Bio
Ottavio Barbieri was born in Brescia in 1970 and is a self-taught piano and keyboard player. Since 1987, he has pursued a long and prolific career as a live keyboardist, spanning genres such as pop, rock, soul, jazz, blues, funk and R&B. Starting in 1996, he worked as a studio composer, arranger and keyboardist, focusing primarily on pre-production, music production, and sound design for videos, short films, CD-ROMs and web projects for brands and theater companies, with a particular emphasis on editing and sound design. Since 1998 he has also dedicated himself to teaching (modern piano, harmony and improvisation) at various music academies, periodically organizing workshops on musical preparatory training and ensemble playing and offering lessons via online platforms. In 2001 he obtained a diploma as a sound engineer from the SAE Technology College in Milan. In 2014, he conducted workshops on music, rhythm and their application in dance at the AED (Académie Européenne de Danse Jazz) in Brescia. In 2016, he participated in the production and recording of “Childhood”, an album by soul singer Carolina (at the OSB Studio in Florence). Since 2018, he has collaborated with the international collective Mann Friday — comprising musicians from Australia, New Zealand, Ibiza, and Zimbabwe — participating in the recording of the album “Bridgenorth RD” (produced at Kore Studios in London) and performing live with the band in London, Dublin, Cape Town, Johannesburg (South Africa) and Harare (Zimbabwe). Between 2018 and 2019 he also collaborated with singer - songwriter Riccardo Maffoni. The album “Places And Things” was released in 2020.
